Essentials Support

Our Essentials Support programme provides families with basic essentials such as clothing, nappies, formula milk and baby equipment.Items are prepacked for families with love and care by our volunteers.

This support helps to ease financial strain, ensuring children have the essentials they need for their health, safety, and development, whilst easing the stress and burden on their parents.

What is Essentials Support?

Families can access a wide range of essential resources, including clothing, baby equipment, nappies, toiletries, buggies, and other necessities for their children. Items are a mixture of brand new and preloved in excellent condition. To be eligible, families must have at least one child under the age of 10 living at home. Items are prepacked for the family to collect.

How do families get referred?

Families need to be referred by a professional. The professional (who we call our "Referral Partner") must also be registered with us. Once they are registered, the Referral Partner will complete an Essentials Support referral form. On this form they will give us the families details and exactly what items they are requesting. Once the form has been completed, they will book a Collection Appointment to collect the items from our Barnet hub in EN5.

When can families be referred?

This is a year-round service so families can be referred at any time. Please note we do run a reduced service with fewer collection appointments available during Christmas and the summer due to our other support programmes running at those times.

How many times can families be referred?

Families can be referred for Essentials Support every 4 months, up to a maximum of 3 times.

Can the family come and choose the items themselves?

The family or referral partner will collect bags that have been carefully packed according to the items requested on the form.  If the family are new parents (i.e. pregnant with their first child or have their first baby aged 3 months or under), they can instead be referred for our New Parents Baby Essentials Experience where they come in and choose the items themselves.
