Intern at Sebby's Corner

Are you a student or graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in the charity sector? Our internship programme is a unique opportunity to make a real difference to families in need while developing your skills in a friendly, fast-paced environment.

Overview

The Sebby’s Corner Internship Programme offers students and graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the charity sector. Interns will support our work ensuring no child goes without essentials, while gaining valuable skills and insight into the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced, impact-driven organisation.

Purpose

  • To provide meaningful, on-the-job experience for young people exploring careers in the charity or non-profit sector.

  • To increase capacity within Sebby’s Corner’s core teams across service delivery, fundraising, and PR & communications.

  • To cultivate a pipeline of passionate, skilled individuals who may go on to volunteer or work within the charity sector.

Experience Offered

Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

 

1. Service Delivery

Support frontline delivery to families.

  • Help pack and prepare orders of essentials.

  • Support with our seasonal services including Christmas Support and School Uniform support.

  • Create mail merges to send to families.

  • Update service records and referral notes in our database.

  • Assist with day-to-day hub operations.

2. Fundraising & Data

Support events and back-end fundraising activity.

  • Help plan and deliver fundraising events and campaigns.

  • Maintain donor databases and assist with data entry and segmentation.

  • Support stewardship of donors and community fundraisers.

  • Research potential funders, grants, or partnership opportunities.

3. PR & Social Media

Support communications and awareness-raising efforts.

  • Draft social media posts and identify upcoming topics to post on.

  • Design marketing materials on Canva.

  • Design e-newsletters.

  • Opportunity to represent Sebby’s Corner at awareness-raising events and talks.

Duration

Flexible. Typically 1–2 days a week for 6–12 weeks. Can be tailored based on the student’s availability, e.g. summer holidays, term-time placements, or gap year experience.

Location

Primarily based at the Sebby’s Corner Hub in Barnet, with occasional remote opportunities.

​

Expenses

While this is an unpaid internship, all reasonable travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed, up to a maximum of £15 a day for travel and £7 a day for lunch.

  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable families and tackling child poverty.

  • Reliable, proactive, and eager to learn.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, adaptable environment.

  • Specific skills (e.g. social media, databases, writing, etc.) are a bonus but not essential.

  3. What are you hoping to learn or gain from this internship?
     

If we think you might be a good fit, we’ll invite you to a short 15-minute chemistry call so we can get to know each other a bit better. After that, you’ll be invited to spend a morning at our hub on a trial basis, getting a feel for the environment and the kind of work you’d be doing. If it feels like the right fit on both sides, we’ll officially offer you a place on the internship programme.
